The city has conducted survey work and has been setting up final protection measures, issuing a release stating the City is currently protected to the 17.5 feet stage and will be protected to the 18 feet stage by the end of the day.
According to the release, a row of HESCO Flood barriers will be deployed in low-lying areas adjacent to the river.
The official City of Cedar Rapids, Iowa, Instagram account shared a positive message to the community, “We are ready.”
Streets, parks, and trails are closed. Updates, including a list of road and facility closures, will be posted on the city’s website at cedar-rapids.org
