Lucky Escape
31st Oct

Late in 2004 the mayors cell had put a few concrete barriers up around the trailers and had made plans to do more but at a later date. An OIF II Bde Commander forced at near gunpoint his personnel to assist in the effort to put Hesco concertainers and sandbags in all the gaps and the uncovered sides. They did so with much grumbling and it was not until a OIF III Bde took their place in the trailers in January 2005 that we became aware of the benefit.

After pulling an all nighter a Maj who was the S3 Plans was sleeping in the Hesco protected trailer when the round came in. You can see the crater adjacent to the Hesco Barriers in the gaps. You can see the differences in the the effects on the trailers. Luckily the adjacent trailer was empty at the time but the Maj in the closer trailer did not even wake up when the round hit. The most excitement from his perspective was when they wedged the door down expecting to see the worst and he came up out of his bunk going for his 9mm trying to figure out who was attacking him.

Every one was needless to say impressed with the differences apparent between the two. Rarely do you get to see a comparison like this. On behalf of the young Major and all who have benefited from your product thanks for saving lives, and I do hope you feel good about selling something that does. Truly it can be said dirt is your best friend on these occasions.

AUSA 2005 (Association of the US Army)
9th - 11th Oct, Washington DC, USA

The 52nd anniversary of the Association of the US Army's (AUSA) annual meeting was another great success for HESCO, who were there once again to say a big “thank you” to US servicemen who had used Concertainer.

'Jimi's' bar once again made a big impact
at the exhibition, kitted out from Concertainer units complete with flags, military memorabilia and army props adding to the authenticity.

Refreshments were served free to all who paid us a visit, with patrons ranging from PFC to 3 Star Generals. HESCO was  one of the most popular stands throughout the show.

This year donations to the Army Emergency Relief Fund, dedicated to "Helping the Army Take Care of Its Own". AER provides commanders a valuable asset in accomplishing their basic command responsibility for the morale and welfare of soldiers. A total of $1642 was raised over the 3 days and handed over at the end of the show.

The HESCO bar will re-open at next year’s event and we look forward to drinking a beer with you and hearing about your experiences of our product.
