Royal Amouries HESCO exhibition now open
19th June 2008, Leeds, UK
A collaboration between HESCO Bastion Ltd and the Royal Armouries Leeds culminated in the official opening on Thursday 19th June of the HESCO exhibit, which forms part of the museums Modern Warfare Gallery.
The showcase of the brand new exhibit is a reconstruction of a HESCO observation post which shows how present day protective walls are built in areas of conflict such as Afghanistan and Iraq using filled HESCO Concertainer® units.
HESCO Bastion has assisted the Royal Armouries Museum in Leeds with the development of a permanent exhibition which showcases the art of warfare from early history to World War II and beyond.
The Royal Armouries is home to the United Kingdom’s national collection of arms and armour. Britain’s oldest museum has grown from its origins as the main royal and national arsenal at the Tower of London into a family of museums located throughout the United Kingdom and in North America.
The Royal Armouries Museum in Leeds houses a large part of the national collection of arms and armour and displays over 8500 objects throughout its five themed galleries.
HESCO have been honoured to be involved in a project which not only preserves history for future generations but furthers education by telling stories about the way in which arms and armours have affected and continue to affect our communities.

2007 WINNER - 1LT Justin Barter, 38 Engineer Regiment
19th June 2008, HESCO Bastion Ltd, Leeds, UK
1LT Justin Barter of 38 Engineer Regiment (North Yorkshire) was presented with his Harley Davidson Fatboy at HESCO Bastion Ltd head office on Thursday 19th June by HESCO Bastion General Manager Patricia Laidler.
LT Barter attended the presentation with colleagues from the troop he served with in Iraq. He commented, ‘When I was first told in early February by phone, I couldn't believe I'd won a Harley Davidson and was convinced that my mates were winding me up! Once I attended the lessons and saw my photo published on the HESCO website it really began to sink in! Everyone I tell can't believe I actually won such an awesome bike and I'm very lucky that my photo was picked from all that were entered.’
LT Barter was overwhelmed on first seeing the bike at the presentation and admitted to a touch of apprehension. ‘I was a bit unsure on the ride home but since the presentation, I've clocked a fair few miles and my confidence has grown. I now look forward to finishing work so I can get out and enjoy the summer evenings on the bike.’
Attending the presentation with Justin at Hesco were:
Sgt Stu Torr
LCpl Sam Cory
LCpl Trish Hughes
Spr Ginge Marshall

HESCO to Exhibit at Eurosatory 2008
Hesco will be exhibiting at Eurosatory 2008 in Paris, France. The show runs from 16 to 20 June and is billed as the most complete range of equipment, land and air-land weapons and security systems on show this year.
Over 48,000 civil and military professional visitors, from 167 countries were in attendance at the last show, in 2006.
Hesco will be unveiling it's new corporate stand, designed by DesignRock. The design uses materials from renewable and recyclable resource streams, along with energy efficient technologies, in an attempt by the company to address current environmental responsibilities.
This new corporate look is the perfect balance to the 'Jimi's Bar' (the stand typically used at shows such as AUSA), and reflects the development of Hesco Bastion from one man's ingenious idea to becoming a major supplier of force protection equipment to major military operations throughout the world.
