REDUCING THE LOGISTICS BURDEN BY THE USE OF LIGHTWEIGHT
PROTECTIVE STRUCTURES ON EXPEDITIONARY OPERATIONS

Military operations of almost all types are incredibly demanding in resource and logistic effort. This has intensified to an all-time high with operations in the most remote and hostile areas of Afghanistan. The logistics burden of supporting troops in forward-operating bases (FOBs) and combat operation posts with just ammunition, rations and water is intense, add the additional burden of supplying fuel, vehicle spares, force protection (FP) material and other life-support essentials, then the burden becomes almost overwhelming.

The end result of course, is that much more effort, manpower and equipment are consumed in supporting the battle than fighting it.'
