REDUCING THE LOGISTICS BURDEN BY THE USE OF LIGHTWEIGHT
PROTECTIVE STRUCTURES ON EXPEDITIONARY OPERATIONS
by Jake McQueen Product Manager, HESCO
Military operations of almost all
types are incredibly demanding
in resource and logistic effort.
This has intensified to an all-time high with
operations in the most remote and hostile
areas of Afghanistan. The logistics burden of
supporting troops in forward-operating bases
(FOBs) and combat operation posts with just
ammunition, rations and water is intense, add
the additional burden of supplying fuel, vehicle
spares, force protection (FP) material and
other life-support essentials, then the burden
becomes almost overwhelming.
The end result
of course, is that much more effort, manpower
and equipment are consumed in supporting
the battle than fighting it.'
