This project's contractor, Duphil Inc., specializes in engineered solutions, including flowable concrete materials. This technology is specific in controlling the initial state of the fill material, so that it can be pumped and maneuvered during construction, until desired specifications have been accomplished.
By using the HESCO Floodline unit, incorporating open free-flowing diaphragm panels, the contractor was able to install a prefabricated concrete form. The project location was 25 feet below the nearest road, causing difficulties in importing standard concrete products. This element of the project was constructed in under four working days – roughly 10 times faster than a comparable, traditional concrete structure.
Once the flowable concrete material began to set, rebar was used, so that a second tier of HESCO units could be added.
