In March 2009, the Red River continued to rise, threatening dozens of communities in and around the city of Fargo.
With flood waters expected to reach and exceed record levels, the National Guard was called in and rapidly deployed HESCO Concertainer units – to protect the local communities.
The rising waters in Fargo had the potential to top 1997’s historic Red River flood levels. However, with HESCO Concertainer units replacing traditional sandbags in many locations, responders were better equipped to manage this emergency. HESCO Concertainer once again proved to be the best defense in emergency flood-fighting.
Over 20 miles of HESCO Concertainer units were sent to North Dakota during the emergency, with approximately 30 miles of units finally shipped to the region.
A typical wall of HESCO Concertainer units (equivalent to approximately 1,500 sandbags) can be erected and installed by just two people using a standard front loader in just 20 minutes. A similar sandbag wall would take 10 workers roughly seven hours to build.
HESCO Bastion USA’s representatives worked closely with the National Guard and local agencies to produce a flood-defense system in record time, averting a potential disaster.
