The original application for HESCO Concertainer® was in the control of coastal erosion. Due to the simplicity of design and installation, it is ideally suited to shoring up sea ravaged coastal shorelines. It can be installed without special equipment or labor. This leads to cost effective, more practical and inexpensive operations.

Sand Dunes are the first means in storm defense for coastal communities. Sand dunes can be depleted quickly causing danger for residences, businesses, and lives. HESCO Concertainer Units are being installed into the core of the dune prior to restoration. This application provides a “backbone of strength” to the sand dune, insuring the sand will remain even through the toughest of storms.

The HESCO Concertainer system has been used to stabilize embankments from the arctic regions of alaska to the shorelines of the north sea. As a gravity wall, Concertainer units provide a hard armor against forces such as wind, ice, and water.
The geotextile insert fabric of the standard Concertainer unit is permeable and allows ground water to slowly drain from behind the wall. Unlike similar walls made of concrete, sheet pile, or timber, this method of bank stabilization minimizes the chances of failure due to hydro saturation and overloading.

HESCO Concertainer® units simply contain fill material and provide wetland protection against everyday wave fetch and erosion. By providing a natural sediment barrier, the Concertainer units allow wetlands and marshlands the opportunity to revitalize.
This very unique application is a durable source for re-creating wetlands that have been lost over the years. Concertainer units can also be planted with aquatic vegetation to help capture passing sediment.

Many coastal landowners have experienced erosion of some sort. Land loss can reduce property value and in many cases affect structural integrity if not halted.
HESCO Concertainer units can be applied to reclaim lost land. The interlocking Galfan system can be deployed to rest on bottoms of lakes or other shallow bodies of water, then filled with local or imported dredge materials. The concertainer unit system simply contains the imported material, preventing everyday losses due to hydrostatic forces and wave fetch.

Most seawalls and bulkheads require extensive labor and expensive costs for use of heavy machinery and manpower. Another major factor in the construction of these structures is the availability of space and ability for needed machinery to access the area.
The Concertainer system ships compact, is rapidly deployable, and can be installed with minimal manpower while still offering needed durability and strength. It can be used by incorporating engineered materials such as rebar and can be dressed in the field with a façade.
