Hydrocarbons such as crude oil and gasoline are stored in large quantities around the United States. Often present in populated areas, dangerous materials require dependable systems of containment around storage facilities and tank farms.
HESCO Concertainer units have been successfully used to create flood stopping levees. To better the Concertainer units in stopping environmentally hazard materials, representatives from HESCO USA, LLC teamed up with manufacturers from IRST Corporation and Xextex, manufacturers of a hydrocarbon solidifying geo-textile fabric. By incorporating the new technology fabric into the Concertainer units, HESCO USA, LLC now offers an impermeable hard boom that can contain land based oil spills.
To better describe the fabric – “Xextex together with the IRST Corporation has developed a new generation smart textile using embedded technology. This unique fabric uses embedded C.I.Agent - an oil encapsulating polymer blend. This hybrid creates a filtration fabric that adsorbs oil instantly, encapsulates breakthrough oils, seals off oil saturated areas of the fabric and forces the oil to unsaturated areas of the fabric. This imparts to the fabric tremendous oil loading capacity that prevents oil breakthrough until the entire fabric is utilized.” Courtesy of IRST Corporation.
Concertainer units used to contain hydrocarbons can double as K-12 rated anti-ram walls. The same Concertainer system used to keep spills in can at the same time keep a threat out. Concertainer units now offer the complete perimeter security product for the petro-chemical industry.
This combined product technology can also be applied as a filtration / check dam within a moving body of water. To read more about the solidifying fabric please visit www.ciagent.com.
